Changes for 7th Ward Independent Democrats

This site will be the home for ward news, fundraising, event information, endorsement information. We are giving up on Facebook.

We will be doing voter registration in the 7th Ward in January. Yes. We will skate. We will ski. We will do what it takes to get more people registered before the February 4th Voter Registration Deadline for the March 3rd Primary. Members running for office cannot participate in this activity. Members registering voters cannot hand out candidate literature at the same time. In addition to earning Members Points (votes), there will probably be some kind of dining reward for those volunteering on this project.

Sam Cummings is no longer Deputy Treasurer. I hope there is no need for explanation but if necessary there will be one.

Update On Monday’s Marijuana Legalization Forum

7th Ward Independent Democrats is very pleased to announce a full panel of speakers on legalization of marijuana for our 7 pm Monday, December 15th event at Lafayette Park United Methodist Church, 2300 Lafayette.

John Payne, Executive Director, Show Me Cannabis
Kenny Murdock, WGNU Radio Host
Gary Wiegert, Lobbyist, Show Me Cannabis
LeShea Agnew, former NPR reporter

For the opposition point of view, we have no one. The Missouri Narcotics Officers Association did not respond to emails. Neither did National Council Against Drugs Abuse, St. Louis or anybody else we contacted.

We will be selling 50-50 Pot tickets to benefit Winter Outreach. 50% will go to the charity and 50% will go to 2-3 names drawn.

7th Ward Independent Democrats Membership Applications will be available at this event, the first of four events in December-January before the membership votes on endorsements.

In February we will vote on endorsements for 7th Ward Alderman, St. Louis Board of Aldermen President, and whether to endorse, oppose or take no position on the Show Me Cannabis Initiative Petition.
