Corporate Welfare: The Mad Rush To Approve Tax Abatement & Bonds Before New Mayor

yTkejEGTE3 pm Tuesday, November 13th
Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority
1520 Market, City Hall West, Room 2000

Agenda: There’s a lot of big projects being rushed through the system and more on the way.

In Not A Big Project Agenda Items, in Bohemian Hill, 1725 S Tucker & 1716 S 13th are being sold by LCRA to Allied Property Group LLC for renovation.

Way down the Agenda you’ll see that LCRA is about to hire Spencer Fane, the law firm that fought the City’s minimum wage increase, to do some legal work. It’s also the law firm that hired 7th Ward Alderman Jack Coatar after he voted against raising the minimum wage.

Filed under “Transparency Fail” – Neither the Enhanced Enterprise Zone Commission nor Planned Industrial Expansion Authority  have, as of 9 pm Tonight/Monday, posted agendas online for their Tuesday meetings.

Board President Lewis Reed filed a board bill  for online posting of meeting notices, a poorly written one in my opinion, but hasn’t bothered to have a hearing on it.

Making government more transparent should be an issue in the upcoming mayoral race.
