79th District Candidate Essays

flags“My Commitment to Black Lives Matter” Essay.

The first two ballots for endorsement of a 79th District State Representative candidate by 7th Ward Independent Democrats were not conclusive.

The two highest vote candidates* were asked to submit a 500 words or less essay using the theme “My Commitment to Black Lives Matter” before we voted a third time. Candidates were given 48 hours.

LaKeySha Bosley did not submit an essay. Shortly before it was due, she said that she had not had time but would try to get it in later. She understood that her name would not appear on our next endorsement ballot if she did not submit an essay. We gave her additional time, but she still did not send an entry. We had previously given her additional time to get her survey answers in. To accommodate the candidate further would not be appropriate.
