On March 14, 2018, The Riverfront Times ran an in depth article on Airport Privatization plotting and scheming (Airport Privatization Has St. Louis Surveying an Unexplored Frontier. Who’s in the Pilot’s Seat?) in which former Mayor Francis Slay reminds us of the Noblesse Oblige governing style he became famous for- to hell with transparency and democracy, royal we knows better than everyone else- and Travis Brown, of Rex Inc, says Rex Sinquefield “should be considered the patron saint of St. Louis.”

The Board of Estimate (Mayor, Comptroller, Board President) have not yet voted to approve the Privatization Consultant Contract with ties to Rex Sinquefield. The next E & A Meetings are scheduled for 2 pm Wednesday, April 18th and 2 pm Monday, April 23rd. One of the problems with the way E&A posts meeting notices/agendas is that they do not include Exhibits, the meat and potatoes of the business to be conducted. The Agendas will say “Contracts” but not list what contracts. Media people are able to secure the Exhibits day of the event. That doesn’t do us any good for dissemination purposes.

In an attempt to find out when the Airport Privatization Contract will be on E&A Agenda, I am going to make a Sunshine request for the Exhibits a week in advance and see what happens. In the spirit of transparency and Sunshine laws, E&A should be posting the Exhibits online 24 hours in advance or earlier. But this is what it has come to, citizens fighting for information.

Comment to the FAA, Contact E&A Members, Contact BOA Transportation Committee Chair, Contact your Alderman, and help Stop Rex Sinquefield.

Very odd. This is the first Airport Commission meeting since Mayor Krewson picked her Airport Privatization Consultant. And, yet, privatization is not on the Agenda- no update from the Mayor or the Consultants. The Airport Director and Airport Commission, in addition to Board of Aldermen and public, continue to be left out of the process.
